See below for New Year's Day Workshops and Hypnotic Restorative dates Receive whatever kind of restoration your body, mind or soul is in need of, as you surrender to the nurturing stillness and quiet of Restorative Yoga. The focus of this gentle practice is to create a foundation of mental, emotional and physical relaxation that resonates into all aspects of your life. Through supported poses, breath awareness and simple meditation techniques, we'll restore health and vitality to the body and mind. From this still place, the body is more able to access its natural ability to cleanse, heal, rest, sleep, grow, conceive and build immunities. This workshop is open to yogis of all backgrounds, levels, sizes and ages. No yoga experience is necessary, just come with the willingness to be still and present with yourself. The deep surrender cultivated here is incredibly useful for women preparing to release into the intensity, mystery and power of giving birth, thus pregnant women (who already have an established yoga practice) are encouraged to attend. New parents, people with chronic illnesses, headaches, and discomfort, as well as people that tend to nurture everyone but themselves are also welcomed. Participants are invited to contact Britt directly with specific questions, requests or concerns at: britt@brittfohrman.com June 19, 1-4:15 pm @ Yoga Tree Hayes October 24, 1 - 4:15pm @ JCCSF With Britt Fohrman and Rachel Yellin, Cht. This exciting new practice, called HypnoYoga, combines hypnosis and restorative yoga, bringing you to a whole new level of healing relaxation. During this workshop, Britt Fohrman will instruct you through a sequence of delicious restorative yoga poses, while Rachel Yellin, a certified Hypnotherapist and yoga teacher, guides you into a deep hypnotic state for the sole purpose of bringing you the exact type of healing that your whole body needs. You must experience this to truly understand how powerful it is. If you are new to hypnosis, it is a naturally induced state of relaxed concentration whereby the subconscious mind is open and receptive to suggestion. While in hypnosis, a person is fully aware of his/her surroundings and completely in control of him/herself. This class will only use suggestion hypnosis to create the desired healing response that each person chooses. If you are new to restorative yoga, this practice uses supported poses, breath awareness and simple meditation techniques to restore health and vitality to the body and mind. Deep relaxation assists the body's natural ability to cleanse, heal, rest, sleep, grow, conceive and build immunities. This workshop is open to yogis of all backgrounds, levels, sizes and ages. No yoga experience is necessary. Let go of lofty New Year's resolutions and celebrate the richness of where you presently are within the nurturing stillness of Restorative Yoga. The focus of this practice is to create a foundation of mental, emotional and physical support for the year ahead. We'll explore various supported poses to cleanse the organs, strengthen the immune system, soothe the nerves, invigorate the body, quiet the mind and celebrate the spirit. While the body rests comfortably, we'll weave in simple breathing techniques, lovingkindness and mindfullness meditations that we can draw on for clarity, presence and strength throughout the coming year. For those that are unfamiliar with Restorative Yoga, it is a practice born from the Iyengar tradition that utilizes a variety of props to support the body in gentle, restful positions. Poses are held for 5-30 minutes or as long as the practitoner is comfortable. The aim of the practice is to create a deep state of physiological relaxation, in which one can breathe, heal and rest deeply. Studies have found that 20 minutes in a Restorative pose can be as restful as 2 hours of sleep!
